Every fan base throws out the dream team when the coach is on the chopping block or already canned.

Remember how many Miami fans were throwing out JJ's name both after Butch and after Coker?

And that's despite the fact that Miami is on the low end of the pay scale for BCS programs.

Johnson had a better chance of going to Miami than UCLA. I'm not sure you'd want him at this point anyway though. He's plenty comfortable where he's at now. We didn't throw out Jon Gruden, Urban Meyer, etc. They might as well add Bob Stoops and Pete Carroll to the list.

Johnson had exactly the same chance of going to Miami that he does of going to UCLA, zero.

We didn't throw out Gruden, but he's the fashionable pick to drop down from the pros to college at the moment (it used to be Shanahan, seems to have shifted now.)

A lot of people who were close to the program thought Jeff Fisher was a possibility last year before VY saved his job with the Titans. And there were plenty of people talking about Richt and Tubberville (and pretty much every other coach who had been on a Miami staff at any point).

Yeah, the list is ridiculous, but it's pretty much that way any time a program with a decent profile has an opening.

Apparently, Spurrier was in Baton Rouge this weekend having lunch with Skip Bertman. He and his wife were also seen around the tiger habitat on campus. The whole Miles to Michigan may have more legs than I originally thought if this is true.
